Descendents of Juda and Maria Litwinenco met August 1-4, 2002 in Helena, Montana. Vern and Lee Tolstedt
hosted the event. Events included a whitewater rafting trip, a boat trip through the Gateway to the
Mountains (named by Lewis & Clark), photo sessions, a Wagon Ride Dinner at Moose Meadow Tipi, sharing of memeories, perusal of family photos, and much laughter.
The meals, typically Litwinenco, were bountiful and wonderful, from buffalo burgers to a Russian
dinner to a salmon banquet and a prime rib mountain meal. Coming from coast to coast, all the male
grandchildren of Juda and Maria Litwinenco were present. The banquet features photos, old film footage, family history, and many stories (some taller than others!). The youngest
generation did a skit about Juda and Maria's arrival in New York. Perhaps best of all were the warm memories about
Juda, Maria, and their children that were shared.
