MRS. JUDA A. LITWINENCO ANSWERS CALL HOME

Settled with Husband in Campbell County 41 Years Ago

Mrs. Marie Litwinenco passed away at her home a few miles west of Herreid, Friday, July 10, from an illness described as tumor of the liver, at the age of 62 years, 7 months and 27 days.

After a long, busy and useful life she died as she had lived - honored, trusted and loved. She reared her own monument while she lived in the hearts of those who knew her. Her life was completed, if work all done and done well, constitutes completion. Her Christian life was exemplary and beautiful to pattern. Through all vicissitudes and sorrows that she met on the way, her faith in God never wavered. She was of a very hospitable disposition. She marked life's path with deeds of kindness and cheer. Flowers not thorns, sunshine not shadow did she scatter everywhere. Truth was the inspiration of her life and by kindness did she exemplify its great worth.

To her the struggle and burden bearing of earth are ended, and we confidently trust that like one who awakes from a troubled dream she has awakened to see life's endless morning break and knows herself at home with all the vast throng of loved ones, missed from earth, safe about her. Her home instincts were strong here in this fevered world of disappointment. Her affection for friends and kindred was tender and abiding.

From citizens of this fair community that she learned to love so well, day after day went up the silent prayer: "Not here. O Death, not here, Is there no other flower for thee to take? All the world is thine, and for its sake Oh! Come not here."

For the Sabbaths of earth she now enjoys the never ending Sabbath of heaven. She waits your coming and watches near the gate. And remember, that morning is not far off when the love of Christ shall bid thee enter in and to share with her unending, unalloyed joy.

Funeral services were conducted Monday afternoon by the Ref. Gordon Oss and Rev. Hine, assisted by J. Estley. They uttered a very fine tribute to our dear friend. After a few prayers and short services at the home the earthly remains were taken to the Evangelical church of this city wither a large escort of friends accompanied for the last services, at which Mrs. Abraham Merkel of Glenham, S.D., rendered a vocal solo entitled, "He Will Hold Me Fast," which was ever a favorite of the deceased and which she was accustomed to often sing in times of stress and tribulations. Interment was made in Fairview cemetery.

"But now she sleeps where daisies nod, And the clover hangs its head, Where the wild birds come and the wild bees hum, Above her lonely bed. She fought the fight, she kept the faith, Her fame shines bright and clear, And her memory lives in all our hearts, Which will hold it ever dear."

The deceased was born in Elecevt Hrad, Antonovak, Russia. She was united in married to Mr. Juda Litwinenco in 1885. To this union were born twelve children, all of whom survive her except the eldest son, Samuel who died in the flue epidemic on Nov 1, 1918, and Philip, Laurene and Elvera, who died in infancy.

Mrs. Litwinenco joined the Baptist church at the age of seventeen. Nine years later she accepted the Seventh Day Adventist faith, and to its teachings and precepts remained faithful until called home by her Maker.

She leaves to morn her loss, her faithful and sorrowing husband, seven daughters and one son. They are, Mrs. Irene Bates of Overton, Nebr., Mrs. Chrystine Carner of Garrison, N.D., Mrs. Kathryn Harvey of Platte Center, Nebr., Mrs. Elizabeth Herman of Denver, Colo., John Litwinenco of Loma Linda, Calif., Mrs. Elvina Tolstedt of Herreid, Mrs. Lulu McCully of Sheridan, Wyo., and Maybelle Litwinenco, still at home, to whom the Picayune, together with their many friends, extends sincere sympathy.
