DIED IN TOWN OF DAKOTA

Levi Candy Passes Away in His Eighty-fifth Year

Levi Candy of Dakota township passed away at 9:15 Thursday night after a brief illness, aged 85 years, 3 months and 16 days.

He had been in comparatively good health for one of his years and was up and about until Thursday morning when he was taken with a sinking spell from which he gradually grew weaker until relieved by death.

Mr. Candy was born near Hublers-burg, Centre county, Pa., where he resided until September, 1864. He then moved to Stephenson county, settling on a farm in Dakota township near Rock Grove where he has since resided, making his home with his son John since the death of his wife, which occurred some ten years ago.

The deceased leaves to mourn his loss three children, Mrs. Uriah Swartz of Cleveland, Tenn., Mrs. George Long of this city, and John, who resides on the homestead, also a number of grandchildren and other relatives.

The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at 1 o’clock from the Reformed church at Rock Grove of which the deceased has long been a consistent member, and the remains will be interred in the Union cemetery at the same place.

Mr. Candy was an upright and conscientious gentleman who was respected by all who knew him.
