The following obituary for Emma Zaharee Litwinenco was found in a scrapbook put together by Elvina Litwinenco Tolstedt. It was written by family friend, Elder Melashenko. It was likely published in an Adventist publication. It was transcribed with mispellings!

LITWINENCO. - Mrs. Emma Z. Litwinenco was born on October 15, 1878, at Kiev, Russia, and passed away after a brief illness on September 15, 1951, at Minot, North Dakota. In 1897 she was united in marriage with William Zaharee and to this union were born nine children, two of whom preceded her in death. In 1902 Mr. and Mrs. Zaharee with their family came to the United States and settle in the vicinity of Velva, North Dakota. Later they moved to the vicinity of Max, North Dakota, where they lived for thirty-five years. Mr. Zaharee preceded his wife in death on January 5, 1937. In 1938 she was united in marriage with Elder Juda A. Litwinenco of Herreid, South Dakota, who also preceded her in death last April 22. Her last few years were spent in the vicinity of Max, North Dakota. At an early age she espoused the Christian way of life. In 1920 she joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church and remained a faithful member until her death. She took an active part in church activities and strongly lent her influence for good. She fell asleep with a strong hope in the resurrection morning. Survivors are: four sons, Samuel of Midland, Michigan; John of Max, North Dakota; James of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; and Fred of Hughson, California; three daughters, Mrs. Alfred S. Taylor of Billings, Montana; Mrs. Matt Gruzensky of Max, North Dakota; and Mrs. Guy E. Bemis of Kalispell, Montana; two brothers, Seazon Poradun of Douglas, North Dakota and Jim Poradun of Viceroy, Saskatchewan; also five grandchildren. -- George Melashenko
